Here's the deal. I placed a tape in the deck and tested the REW, FF, PLAY, STOP, PAUSE and EJECT. All that works as it should and the sound of the tape was crisp and clear. The VOLUME control works fine. Both the VU needles moved according to the sound. That is all I was able to test for you. I know nothing more about this tape deck and you are buying it "as is" with no refunds or returns. Cosmetically, it's in good shape. Normal light wear and no major blemishes. The battery box is clean and I tested the deck with six "D" batteries. All is good. There are a couple of things you need to be aware of. The lid on the battery box fits so tightly that you will need a screwdriver to pry it open. And on the inside of the lid there is what remains of the brown fuzzy stuff that once kept the batteries snug in the battery box. If you look at my last photo, you'll see what I mean. That's it.
